Perry is a native of Abilene, and attended Abilene Christian University. He then moved to his wife’s home town of Sacramento, California, to attend law school at the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law. While in law school, he took a position as a clerk for the US Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of California, and began his trial career in federal court as a certified student attorney. It was here he discovered his passion for trial work, and completed several jury trials before graduating from law school. Upon graduation, he took a position as a Deputy District Attorney for Sacramento County, and tried cases in California courts for the next 15 years.
He returned to his home state of Texas in 2004, and since has been the First Assistant DA in Brown County, and an Assistant DA with the Border Prosecution Unit. He also has several years experience in private practice and in criminal defense. He has been trying cases in courtrooms for more than 30 years, has participated in hundreds of jury trials, and has both prosecuted and represented clients in just about every crime imaginable, including murder and capital murder.
He is a member of the California and Texas Bar Associations.
